First Annual Pikes Peak Run
Posted: July 20, 2010
The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity presented the Pi Kappa Alpha 5K Run for a Cure. The race took place April 10th at Wickham Park starting at 7:30 am. This was our first year for the event and we are planning for an even larger turnout next year. Running Zone Race Management provided the timing and operations for our event. We had close to 145 runners of all ages come out to participate. With there help we were able to make a sizeable donation to the American Cancer Society.
We would like to ask your consideration to participate as a sponsor in next year's Pi Kappa Alpha 5K Run for a Cure to raise money for the American Cancer Society.Zeta Sigma Starts Fall 2009 With a Humanitarian Bang Posted: August 27, 2009
The Pike brothers of Zeta Sigma chapter have started their Fall 2009 semester with a humanitarian bang. After a relaxing summer of preparation for the new school year the brothers began to move their belongings to their new dwellings in the beginning of August. In an effort to minimize the amount of needlessly accumulated and unused belongings the Community Service committee organized a charitable drop-off location for unwanted items at the Pike house. Within the first day the humble packing box was overflowing with generous donations from the brothers and friends. After the first meeting of the year an entire truck load was delivered to a local charitable thrift shop. The value of donated items was estimated at approximately $1,500, proving to be a tremendous success.Fall 2008 Community Service Posted: November 28, 2008
Fall 2008 Zeta Sigma gave back to the campus and the community by logging over 775 Campus Service hours, over 1500 community service hours, and over $200 donated. From events such as assisting Gamma Phi Beta with the Yellow Ribben Project, to various campus events, Zeta Sigma Pikes have selflessly donated their time and energy to better the community around them. Pikes have shown themselves to be leaders in the field of service to others.
Hockey Games 2008 Posted: February 25, 2008 Brothers, Hockey was a success again this semester. I'd like to give a special thanks to Chazz, Gamma Omega, and every single brother who took time away from the party on Friday and went to the hockey game. Brothers, by helping out a brother when that ask you to skip out on a party to help them run hockey security, that's what makes us stand out over other fraternities. That's Phi Phi. And its because of that bond we share which is why we had success this semester. FIT Hockey-Security...I think so Posted: October 23, 2007
Continuing a tradition that began in Fall 2005, the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha are lending helping hands to the FIT Hockey team throughout the Fall of 2007. Rising up to meet the call of duty, Zeta Sigma brothers are volunteering their time at home hockey games located at the Space Coast Ice Plex in Rockledge, Florida.
Brothers help in setting up before and cleaning up after games, assist in coordinating intermission events between periods, provide crowd control services during games, direct traffic in the parking lot before and after games, and stand ready as designated drivers for fans desiring safe rides back to Melbourne. On-duty police officers and security guards hired by the Ice Plex have congratulated and commended the work done by our brothers. While supporting our brothers and representing Florida Tech at intercollegiate athletic events, the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha have volunteered over 300 hours of their time to six home hockey games this semester.
Hockey season may be over, but next season is only 6 months away! Dynamic Duo Hits The Ice - Pi Kappa Alpha and Florida Tech Hockey Posted: October 23, 2007

Thank You Thank A Thoners Posted: October 23, 2007 This week the second "Thank-a-Thon" of the calendar year was held on campus and conducted by students who called over 1,000 Florida Tech donors to simply say "thank you" for giving to the university. Some of you may have been the recipient of such a call. I would like to take a moment to hold a brief Thank-a-Thon of my own to express my gratitude to the following students for participating in this year's program: Pi Kappa Alpha: Frank Racioppi Clay Danielson Ryan Gauthier Ted Simeoni Brock Tucker Robert Ridomski Mark Reynolds Matt Berlo Nate Denton J. Holmes Chris Hubacek Alpha Phi Omega: Dana Swanson These students truly showed their Florida Tech pride and the feedback I have received from our donors has been positive. Again, kudos to these students for their hard work and support!
Rosalind Weiss, Director of Annual Giving, Florida Institute of Technology Brothers Help at Habitat for Humanity ReStore Posted: October 23, 2007
More than 50 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the United States and Canada have established ReStores, which sell quality used and surplus building materials at a fraction of retail prices. Proceeds from ReStores fund the construction of Habitat houses in the community. Habitat's most successful ReStores raise enough to build 10 or more houses per year.
The local ReStore in Melbourne is operated by approximately 100 volunteers year-round. Zeta Sigma brothers donated over 60 hours of their time over the coure of two weekends toward helping the ReStore staff organize and clean up their warehouse of building supplies. While on site, a number of the brothers also assisted customers by carrying bulky purchases like appliances, furniture and cabinetry out to their vehicles.
Hopefully there will be more cooperation among Pi Kappa Alpha and Habitat for Humanity in the future. Stay tuned! Pi Kappa Alpha Dominates In a Bit of Spring Cleaning Posted: October 23, 2007
On Saturday, March 18th, 2006, with Greek Week formerly underway, nearly forty Zeta Sigma brothers chose to wake up early and help with Campus Clean-Up, sponsored by President Catanese. Ridding our campus of the most junk, trash and garbage, especially around the Botanical Gardens, became the ultimate goal of every individual and organization participating in this dirty competition.
In the end, Pi Kappa Alpha came out with two awards for their astounding efforts so early on a Saturday morning - Most Participation From Any Organization On Campus and Most Trash Accumulated In Two Hours. Not only is the campus a more beautiful place to live, work, and study, but the brothers of PiKA were refreshed and lively for Day 2 of GREEK WEEK. View the chapter's Greek Week page for ongoing updates on the chapter's performance (*cough*, I mean dominance) this year. Relay For Life a Great Success Posted: April 1, 2006 The brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha had a good 'ol time at the event. While some simply came along for fun, others participated in honor or memory of loved ones who are battling or have battled cancer. Amidst the action going on around the track, the in-field was always full of activities. Relay Idol, a fun karaoke competition, offered some laughs, with brothers Jeremy Holmes, Teddy Simeoni and Mark Reynolds respecitively singing "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback, "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega, and "Photograph" by Nickelback. Other entertainment included the FIT Infinity Dance Team, the FIT Pep Band, a live band of FIT students rocking out to Lousiana-style jazz and swing, and Jazzercise instructors showing us how it's done on stage.
With at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the event, the Pi Kappa Alpha brothers displayed tremendous team spirit and motivation to support a worthy cause. With a school total of over $32,000 raised to support cancer research at Relay 2006, we'll be back next year for Relay 2007, ready to Fight For A Cure, One Lap At A Time! |
